Conspiracy of Traitors
The book reveals the events and circumstances of the rise and systematic destruction of the economic system of the Archdiocese of Maribor, with a special focus on the holding companies Zvon ena and Zvon dva.
The book is based on extensive documentation, the personal experience of the author, the contribution of Archbishop Dr. Franc Kramberger, the insights of the Vatican expert Msgr. Milan Simčić, and the expert findings of renowned economists and lawyers regarding the great global economic and financial crisis of 2008–2012.
The crisis situation facilitated the conspiracy of the traitors and allowed them to carry out the robbery of the century through systemic corruption, media deception of the public and demonisation of the economic management before the onset of the crisis. The misled public accepted the lie as the truth and reacted by wrongly condemning the scapegoats.
In the civil and ecclesiastical spheres, goodwill, solidarity and prudence failed. The traitors abused the crisis and the situation of spirit and forced the bankruptcy of the Zvon Holdings. In doing so, they have severely damaged the Archdiocese of Maribor and its 35,427 small shareholders, and have caused distrust of the Church.
This book therefore pays a moral debt to the unjustly tarnished Archdiocese of Maribor and to the disappointed, treacherously defrauded shareholders. It offers for consideration an initiative to right the wrongs by concluding an economic agreement between the Holy See and the Republic of Slovenia. By analysing how humans respond to trials, the book reveals the basis of personal and systemic evil.

The trial of the author of Conspiracy of Traitors, Mirko Krašovec, and the Archdiocese of Maribor has all the elements of a media trial: public accusation without evidence, manipulation of the crowd, undue process and media lynching. The traitors in this conspiracy diverted attention and popular anger from the real financial procedures in the banks to the institutions of the Church and certain individuals within it who followed economic theory and general banking practice.
prof. dr. Ludvik Toplak
The book reveals the methods and the organisation of the lobby behind the systemic corruption in the looting of Slovenian assets in the hands of the Archdiocese of Maribor and the small shareholders of Zvon ena and dva. The same methods were used in the “rehabilitation” of the banks. The financial “sharks,” as they were called by the media, first forced an official valuation of the assets of Zvon holdings and the banks to zero, and then sold them off to foreign capital.

Rehabilitating the Church by exposing systemic corruption
At the beginning of 2021, ten years had passed since the financial collapse of the Archdiocese of Maribor, but among the primary victims of the conspiracy and the traitors there was still no willingness to participate in the preparation of an authentic account of the actual management of the Archdiocese of Maribor on the basis of archival documentation. As the public was still being misled by this, and the anti-religious propaganda in some media was even intensifying, I started to edit the documentation myself and to prepare the final text for the book. I was driven by the desire to see the unjustly tarnished Archdiocese of Maribor, to which I had been devoted for decades, properly rehabilitated; the public needs to know the truth that the traitors have trampled on; the public needs to know who really caused the financial collapse of the Zvon Holdings, thus harming the Archdiocese of Maribor and 35,427 small shareholders; the public must know that the traitors carried out “the manipulation of the millennium.” Manipulation of this kind, which is reminiscent of the workings of demonic forces, must be exposed in the spirit of the Gospel.

About the Author
I was born on 18 July 1947 at Sodna vas near Podčetrtek. I attended primary school in Podčetrtek and then the II. gimnazija Maribor (Second National High School). I studied theology at the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana and Maribor. In 1972 I was ordained a priest. From August 1972 to March 1985 I did pastoral work in Podčetrtek, Olimje and Buče, first as a spiritual assistant and parish administrator, and later as parish priest in Podčetrtek. This was a time of intensive pastoral work with the faithful, as well as a time of renovation and construction of church buildings.
From March 1985 to 15 November 2010 I was the Diocesan economist in Maribor, and from March 1985 to August 1994 I was also the economist of the Theological Seminary. In July 1999 I was appointed Cathedral Canon. After my dismissal from the office of the Canon of the Cathedral (15 November 2010), I carried out pastoral work as a parish administrator in the parishes of Sv. Jurij v Slovenskih Goricah, Brezno ob Dravi and Remšnik. From 26 February 2013 to 9 June 2017 I was in “exile” in the Monastery of St Paul in Austrian Carinthia, where I had good conditions for working through the documentation for this book.
From 2012 to 2020, civil trials were held in Celje and Ljubljana on false accusations in relation to the Betnava project and the Mladinska Knjiga shares. In this context, I served a “weekend” imprisonment in Rogoza Prison from 9 June 2017 to 14. September 2017. In 2018 and 2019, both trials ended in acquittals; in 2019 and 2020 the acquittals became legally valid. I have thus been cleared of all charges. In 2019, I was reinstated in pastoral ministry. From 24 October 2019 to 1 August 2021, I worked in the parish of Sv. Andraž v Slovenskih goricah, first as a spiritual assistant and from 1 August 2021 as a parish administrator. My permanent residence is in Drbetinci in municipality of Sveti Andraž v Slovenskih goricah.
